Getting the Most Out of MAHP Summer Conference
Michigan Association of Health Plan’s 33rd Annual Summer Conference is just around the corner. Summer Conference is always a highlight of the year, with a chance for members to mingle, learn from great speakers, visit with vendors and relax with peers, friends and family.
This year, make sure you do Summer Conference right! Here are a few tips to help you get the most out of your trip.
1. Be Prepared
You would never attend an important meeting without reviewing the agenda first, right? The same goes for Summer Conference.
Before you head up to Grand Traverse Resort, make sure you review the agenda to plan out what sessions you don’t want to miss and which speakers you want to connect with. Plan ahead to know what you want to leave Summer Conference with, whether it’s a few tidbits from the “Building Value-based Payment Programs that Reward Patient Outcomes” session or a business card and connect with a conference vendor.
2. Don’t Leave the Essentials at Home
Summer Conference is a busy multi-day event. Make sure you remember to bring the essentials with you each day to get the most out of the sessions you attend and connections you make:
- Business cards – Make sure you bring plenty of business cards and have some on hand at all times.
- Chargers – Don’t miss an important opportunity to take pictures, jot down notes, or swap contact information digitally because you have a dead battery.
- Notebook and pen – There will be a lot of content to consume at the Summer Conference. Make sure you have a way to jot down notes so you can share with your colleagues post-conference. Mobile or desktop apps such as Evernote or Google Keep allow you to take quick notes on the go too!
3. Get Social
We’re bringing Summer Conference to social media this year! Twitter is a great way to participate in conversations going on around conference sessions and can be an easy way to engage with other conference participants.
Make sure you use the Summer Conference hashtag #MAHPsummer18 when tweeting so others can easily find your tweets and engage.
It’s also a good idea to follow conference speakers and organizations, so you can see their content in your feed. Want to go a step further? Send them a direct message before the conference, to introduce yourself and set up a time to grab coffee.
If you follow a lot of people and brands on Twitter, you can cut down on the noise and focus only on Summer Conference content by following our list of speakers, organizations, and attendees here. A list curates content from a chosen few profiles so you can focus on conference content. Also, make sure you follow the Summer Conference hashtag #MAHPsummer18 to see tweets from other attendees. Don’t forget to give them a like or follow!
4. Expand Your Network
A big part of Summer Conference is networking with 400+ health care industry representatives. When you arrive, check out the vendor, sponsor, and RSVP lists to see if there are any connections you want to schedule a coffee chat with. You can also find other attendees by following the Summer Conference hashtag #MAHPsummer18 on Twitter!
We hope you take the time to prepare for Summer Conference so you can get the most out of your time at Grand Traverse Resort. We’re preparing an innovative, fast-paced experience, giving you an opportunity to learn more about the critical issues facing the health care industry.
See you on the 18th-21st at the Grand Traverse Resort!
