Upper Peninsula Health Plan announces Jaime Houghton as Chief Financial Officer

Upper Peninsula Health Plan (UPHP) CFO Leslie Luke announced her retirement (effective December 21st) this past fall, leaving the position of Chief Financial Officer (CFO) vacant.
With extensive accounting and finance experience, Jaime Houghton brings invaluable knowledge and leadership to the CFO position.
Originally from Wisconsin, Houghton is a University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point alumni. She moved to the Upper Peninsula in 2006 and earned her CPA designation in 2007.
She has been with UPHP since 2017 and has served as Controller, responsible for the day to day management of financial reporting and accounting processes. Jaime has many accomplishments during her time at UPHP, including being the 2020 Leadership Award winner for ‘Valued Employees and Volunteers,’ that acknowledges a manager/supervisor who exemplifies our commitment to valuing team members or volunteers. She has also led a UPHP 5k Training Program for fellow staff, showing her commitment to the company beyond the Finance department.
In her role as CFO, Jaime Houghton will report to the President and CEO of Upper Peninsula Health Plan, Melissa Holmquist, and will now oversee the Claims Administration, Accounting, and Risk Adjustment departments. “UPHP’s mission is to advance the health and well-being of the communities we serve. I am proud to have been part of the Finance team supporting this work for the last four years and am honored to join the senior leadership team that is passionate about and dedicated to building a healthier U.P.,” said Houghton.
With more than two decades of experience in accounting and finance, Jaime Houghton has the experience and institutional knowledge to excel in this new position. Prior to joining the UPHP team, she worked at UP Health Systems of Marquette, serving as Controller. Prior to that, Houghton spent 10 years in the public accounting and financial services industry as an auditor.
