Michigan Association of Health Plans names Brian Mills as Deputy Director of Commercial Market Affairs and Communications
Brian Mills has been named the new Deputy Director of Commercial Market Affairs and Communications at Michigan Association of Health Plans (MAHP) effective July 16. In this position, he will work closely with the existing MAHP staff to develop policies and recommendations for the association in the areas of commercial market affairs and communications.
Mills will be responsible for assisting and working with the executive director in carrying out the mission, vision and strategic plan objectives of the association. He will also be responsible for the administration of programs, support functions, special projects, support for member commercial market products and manage external communications efforts.
Prior to joining MAHP, Mills served as the director of the Michigan House of Representatives Republican Policy Office where he managed a team of policy and communications advisors and worked with key stakeholders to create effective public policy. Previously, he was the chief operating officer, chief of staff and acting executive director of Michigan State House Development Authority where he facilitated strategic planning, supervised an annual operating budget of more than $100 million and more.

Mills earned his Bachelor of Science in political science from Central Michigan University.
