MAHP’s Dominick Pallone appointed to Gov. Whitmer’s Protect Michigan Commission
Gov. Whitmer announced this week a new bipartisan commission to educate Michiganders on the COVID-19 Vaccine, and MAHP Executive Director Dominick Pallone has been appointed to the commission.
The Protect Michigan Commission will serve in an advisory capacity to Gov. Whitmer and Michigan Department of Health and Human Services and will provide leadership to elevate and reinforce the importance of an approved COVID-19 vaccine, identify barriers that may impede the acceptance of an approved COVID-19 vaccine by Michigan residents, including identifying areas or groups within this state that are likely to experience vaccine hesitancy, and develop an outreach action plan designed to overcome these barriers. The commission will complete its work and submit a brief final report to the governor by December 31, 2021.
“This commission is critical to raise awareness of the safety and effectiveness of an approved COVID-19 vaccine and help protect the health and safety of all Michigan residents,” said Pallone. “I’m honored to serve on the commission with leaders across the state in varying industries and professions to accomplish these goals.”
MAHP member Melissa Holmquist, CEO of Upper Peninsula Health Plan, will also serve on the commission as the chair for the health leaders workgroup.
