Four Michigan Association of Health Plan members earn high ratings for serving Michigan seniors

Four Michigan Association of Health Plans (MAHP) member health plans earned a ranking of 3.5 stars or higher from Center for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) for their Medicare products. Health Alliance Plan secured a 4.5 stars out of five while Priority Health earned 4 stars, Meridian Health Plan earned 3.5 stars and Molina Healthcare earned 3.5 stars.  

“This year’s rankings demonstrate our health plan members’ dedication to providing quality care to Michigan seniors,” said Dominick, executive director of the Michigan Association of Health Plans. “MAHP health plan members are consistently providing high quality, affordable and accessible health insurance and this is yet another example of the health plans listening to their members and focusing on their needs.” 

CMS uses star ratings to help consumers make informed decisions about Medicare supplement options, measuring more than 40 performance metrics in five categories. The Star Ratings Program is consistent with CMS’ Quality Strategy of optimizing health outcomes by improving quality and transforming the health care system.  

The CMS Quality Strategy goals reflect the six priorities set out in the National Quality Strategy. These priorities include: safety, person- and caregiver-centered experience and outcomes, care coordination, clinical care, population/community health, and efficiency and cost reduction. The Star Ratings include measures applying to the following five broad categories: outcomes, intermediate outcomes, patient experience, access, and process.
