Michigan health centers granted $500K for opioid telemedicine programs
The USDA awarded $500,000 to 25 healthcare facilities across Michigan to help expand the state’s telemedicine services for opioid addiction, Times Union reports.
Alpena (Mich.) Community College, a recipient of partial funds, plans to use the grant to enhance its video and audio technology used to communicate with patients located in Michigan’s northeastern lower peninsula for opioid addiction treatment.
The USDA is providing the funds through its Rural Development Distance Learning and Telemedicine program. The financial assistance will help cover installation of video equipment for telemedicine in 18 Michigan-based counties.
