Michigan health care leaders elected as 2023-2024 MAHP board officers
The Michigan Association of Health Plans (MAHP) board elected a new slate of board officers for the 2023-2024 year. The MAHP board is comprised of health plan leaders who work to fulfill the mission of the association and advocate for high quality, affordable and accessible health care for Michiganders.
“We are thrilled to welcome the newest board leaders and work together to push our association’s agenda forward during this coming year,” said Dominick Pallone, executive director of MAHP. “The new officers are leaders of health plans who are determined to make Michigan’s health care system more innovative, improving the health of their members and communities.”

President – Nancy Jenkins, CEO, McLaren Health Plan
Nancy Jenkins brings more than three decades of successful health plan leadership to her new role as president of MAHP. As president and CEO of McLaren Health Plan, Nancy leads an organization comprised of group, individual, Medicaid and Medicare members located throughout Michigan. Her commitment to improving the member experience has resulted in the health plan being recognized by the National Committee for Quality Assurance with an award of distinction in Multicultural Health Care.
President-Elect – Dr. Michael Genord, CEO, Health Alliance Plan
Michael Genord, M.D. became president and CEO of HAP in 2020, bringing a wealth of executive leadership and medical experience to the position. He also serves as executive vice president of Henry Ford Health, of which HAP is an operating unit. In these roles, he is responsible for driving the performance of a provider-sponsored regional health plan, bringing both HAP and Henry Ford Health to the forefront of value-based health care delivery, which encourages and rewards positive health outcomes for members and patients.
Treasurer – Melissa Holmquist, CEO, Upper Peninsula Health Plan
Melissa Holmquist is the CEO of the Upper Peninsula Health Plan (UPHP), which serves more than 50,000 Medicaid, Healthy Michigan Plan, Children with Special Health Care Services, and MI Health Link beneficiaries in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. She has been employed by UPHP for more than 20 years in a variety of positions and departments, including claims services, utilization management, operations, and government programs. She oversees all operations of the plan and works closely with the UPHP Management Committee and the Senior Leadership Team to ensure quality, efficiency and effective cost- management strategies.
Secretary – Patricia Graham, CEO, Meridian of Michigan
Patricia “Patty” Graham is the Plan President & CEO at Meridian of Michigan. She has served Meridian since 2013 and has held multiple leadership roles within her tenure. She brings nearly 20 years of experience in Medicaid and government-sponsored programs, specifically serving the Michigan community since 2010. Patty’s extensive knowledge in the operations of managed care and the unique culture she has helped cultivate at Meridian has led to two successful integrations. Patty is an active participant in many charitable organizations that promote equity and inclusion and is passionate about supporting the development of leaders both within Meridian and throughout Centene Corporation, Meridian’s parent company.
At-Large Board Member – Dennis Mouras, CEO, UnitedHealthcare Community Plan
Dennis J. Mouras is the Chief Executive Officer for UnitedHealthcare Community Plan of Michigan. UnitedHealthcare Community & State proudly serves nearly 7 million Medicaid members in 32 states, plus Washington D.C. UnitedHealthcare Community & State is a division of UnitedHealth Group which is a diversified health and well-being company with a mission to help people live healthier lives and help make the health system work better for everyone. Dennis joined UnitedHealthcare in July 2014. His career in healthcare spans more than three decades. Dennis is recognized as a focused and strategic leader, driving innovation, organizational transformation and business development initiatives.
