St. Luke’s Hospital announces plans to merge with McLaren Health Care
St Luke’s Hospital has announced an integration with McLaren Health Care to help improve what St. Luke’s can offer the community.
McLaren has the largest network of cancer care providers in Michigan and intends to allow St. Luke’s to offer the same level of care in the future.
One of the first projects planned is a brand new cancer center.
St. Luke’s Board of Trustees Chairman Bill Carroll said they’ve been looking for about a year to find ways to grow and realized they couldn’t do it alone. They reached out to more than a dozen hospitals and found McLaren to be the best match to help them offer better care.
“We’re gonna have a top notch cancer center, a Karmanos Cancer Center,” Carroll said. “We’re going to improve the surgery centers here. I think some of the building here needs some improvement. We’re going to do that. But the campus will be improved and it will expand.”
In addition to the cancer center, there are plans for an orthopedic, neuro and spine center as well.
