Position Summary

This position reports to and partners with the Executive Director in carrying out the mission, vision, and strategic plan objectives of the Association.  The position will be responsible for the administration of programs, major policy initiatives, providing support functions to internal committees, and special projects, as well as other duties assigned by the Executive Director.  The Deputy Director will work closely with a wide range of stakeholders, including the Association’s member plans, Association Board of Directors, Association committee chairs and committee members, and with appropriate State entities (e.g., Department of Insurance & Financial Services and the Department of Health & Human Services).

MAHP is seeking individuals with at least three to five years of commercial managed care experience care with a focus in product management/development, marketing, or regulatory affairs within a health plan, government, or related healthcare setting.  A bachelor’s degree is required.  An advanced degree in health administration, business, or law is highly desired.

The Michigan Association of Health Plans (MAHP) is a non-profit corporation established to promote the interests of member health plans.  The Association works closely with all levels of government to achieve fair and equitable regulatory policies and to foster growth in the managed care industry.

As the voice for health plans in Michigan, the Association seeks to increase public awareness about plans’ services, aims, efficiency, operations, and healthcare delivery benefits.  The Association facilitates communication among members and with the healthcare industry on issues of common concern and maintains contact with healthcare associations in other states and nationally.

MAHP is a member of the America’s Health Insurance Plans (AHIP).  AHIP represents more than 1,300 member organizations that provide healthcare for more than 200 million Americans nationwide.
